What we take, and don’t.
From used clothes, to mismatched electronics, to old batteries, and those shoes you haven’t worn in a decade. Simply put them in your Goodbye Bag and rest easy that we’ll find the best path for each.
What We Take
👚 Clothing and textiles
Whether it’s Nana’s old lace napkins, those shirts your partner hasn’t worn in 15 years, or old towels. We’ll take any and all clean textiles. Clothes in great condition, made to last, can be worn again—whereas old textiles can be recycled and turned into stuffing for sofas or nests for recovering baby birds.
🔌 Small appliances, working or not
We’ve taken everything from countertop ice makers to headlamps to shake weights (is that an appliance?) and beyond. Whether it works or not, we’ll test it, fix it if we can, and either find it a new home or the best recycling or disposal option.
💡 Various household items
Holiday decorations, coasters, antique ceramic figurines, books–both modern paperbacks and vintage hardcovers—we take it all. If it’s sat on your shelf for longer than you’d like to acknowledge, it may be time for it to go in your Goodbye Bag. We’ll do our best to find it a new loving home or the best disposal path.
🧩 Toys, games, and other miscellaneous. entertainments

What We Don’t
First off… let’s stay dry
We do not accept wet items of any kind, which we believe is basically a universal given. We know you, dear reader, would never include something wet, like a sock, a damp towel, or a leaking cat’s water bed.
Sorry, no perishable food
As with most stuff in this list, it also goes without saying. Unfortunately, perishable food must be disposed of in your trash or compost bin (if you have one). That being said, we will donate non-expired canned goods to local food banks.
Unwashed stuff
Your old jeans may still be in great shape, but if they are dirty, we can’t take them. Please pre-wash anything you put in your Goodbye Bag so we can find the best path for it, be it resale or finding a happy new owner in the community.
Hazardous materials, broken glass, and anything with sharp edges
Help us keep our team safe, if you wouldn’t want to reach into a bag and find this broken item—please don’t include it. If you need suggestions on the best ways to dispose of broken or hazardous materials, check out our blog or text us for local options near you.
Bigger stuff?
Sometimes you’ll have larger items that you want to say “Adios!” to as you fill your Goodbye Bags. Feel free to text us an image, and we can let you know if our driver can make room and if there will be a cost associated based on the size, weight and potential resale value.
